AUTUMN / WINTER / SPRING - 2017/18
The Exmoor ride had great weather, and was enjoyed by lots of LCRC members. Fran Bell led the ride on both days, Fran is a fantastic guide, and knows the moor very well, giving club members the best Exmoor experience you could ever want!
Thanks to Brenda Lunt for organising this ride, a club annual highlight for many members.
Leah Steele is organising the ride next year. LCRC club rides have been well attended and members have enjoyed the varied ride locations.
LCRC has had a very successful summer, the teams have done very well at Area 12 level and at the championships.
The Horse Trials were held at Bicton in June, the 90 team won and qualified, and the N/Q 90 team came 5th, with many members gaining individual placings. The 1m team also won, this was a N/Q team.
The horse trials championships were held at Swalcliffe beginning of August, we had a few team changes due to lameness problems, the team members were: Charlotte Marshall, Anna Burleigh, Gilly Brugge and Olivia Benger, Charlotte, Anna and Gilly enjoyed their first time at a RC championship, and doing a proper long format two day event, they loved the experience and are hoping to qualify again! Olivia came 4th as an individual on Mr Monty, she stepped in at the last minute to ride at Bicton.
LCRC also qualified for the SWWRC at Hartpury, with dressage, riding test, style jumping and show jumping. The team chose not to do the SJ, you are only allowed to do three team competitions, the team members were: Sarah Wharton, Fiona Benger, Charlotte Marshall, Fran Summers, Davina Hardiman, the style team won with Fiona & Charlotte placed 2nd each in their sections and Sarah and Davina both placed 5th. The dressage team came 10th with Sarah placed 2nd and Fiona 5th, in the riding test, the team came 3rd with Sarah winning individually and Fiona 3rd, huge thanks to Davina for stepping in at the last min, much appreciated and well done for learning the test so quickly!
LCRC has welcomed Leah Steele onto the club committee, Leah was co-opted on midterm, as the club child welfare officer and junior team coordinator.
